Gagan Chawla — Founder & Lead Analyst
Gagan Chawla is a former software engineer and product manager who has spent his career building and buying into the GTM stack at companies across three distinct stages of growth — from pre-revenue to growth-stage to scale. He has lived on both sides of GTM software decisions: as the person configuring the tool, writing the SQL, and debugging the integration, and as the person responsible for the number that the tool was supposed to move. That dual vantage point is the foundation of everything published on GTMLens.
GTMLens exists because the analyst space for GTM software is largely broken. Established analyst firms are funded by the vendors they cover — which doesn’t make their research wrong, but it does make it systematically optimistic about those vendors’ capabilities and systematically quiet about their limitations. The practitioner content that fills the gap (LinkedIn posts, newsletters, community discussions) is largely produced by founders and advisors with a financial stake in the tools they recommend. GTMLens is an attempt to produce the category-level analysis and vendor evaluations that a senior revenue operator would want before making a significant buying decision — without a thumb on the scale.
Before launching GTMLens, Gagan worked across engineering, product, and revenue operations roles. He has hands-on experience with data enrichment workflows, outbound infrastructure, CRM architecture, and the orchestration layer that connects them. He is not a neutral observer of the GTM stack — he has strong opinions, formed through direct use — but he is committed to showing his work and being transparent about where those opinions come from.
How I Work
Research on GTMLens is a combination of direct product trials, pricing verification, customer interviews, and careful reading of vendor documentation, changelogs, and public filings. AI tools assist with research aggregation and first-draft synthesis; every published piece is reviewed, edited, and verified by Gagan before publication. See the AI-assisted drafting section of the Editorial Policy for full details on how AI assistance is used and disclosed.
